Fall 2023 Mobile Mural Project: Dreamscapes

Theme & Partnership

Brooksville Main Street invites artists to create an original art piece for our Mobile Mural Program. This is the seventh round of Mobile Murals! The Mobile Murals and the artists behind them will be a part of Brooksville Main Street's Multicultural Festival on October 7th, 2023.

This project is made possible by our sponsors: the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs and the Hernando County Fine Arts Council. Are you interested in sponsoring this program? Get in touch!

Theme: Dreamscapes

A dreamscape is defined as, "a landscape or scene with the strangeness or mystery characteristic of dreams." The mind is a powerful thing. It can create stories and scenes that cannot be found here in the physical world as we know it.

Artists are asked to paint their interpretation of a dreamscape, whether this be a picture of their idea of utopia, or a wild scene from their imagination. Share with us your visions of nature, humanity, reality, fantasy, and creativity... Share your landscape of the mind! Give us a glimpse into your mind by painting your dreamscape.

  • Dana Donkle

    Dana Donkle

My name is Dana Donkle, and I am a marine science educator and artist under the name Octopus Garden Art. I express the interconnectedness of our natural world through surrealism--such as the unfamiliar allure of octopuses enwrapped in the obvious beauty of flowers. I approach my art with a spirit of exploration, embracing diverse themes in nature, varied brushstrokes, and a vibrant palette of colors. I share my work through a variety of platforms such as live painting, showing in galleries, working markets, and murals. I've worked at a variety of marine science non-profits, and leave my mark in the form of an educational mural at each of them, and hope to continue mural projects well into my future.”

  • Heather Neiman

    Heather Neiman

“It's all about the story. The process. Thoughts and feelings. I create using my intuition, the constant battling of my inner critical voice, words, paint, collage, and found objects. Viewers are drawn into my work by a force they are not aware of. My willingness to be vulnerable while painting infuses an energy that invites you to stay. My work creates a narrative that not only bears my soul, but invites you to seek yours.”

  • Joan Manuel Casadiego

    Joan Manuel Casadiego

Hi, my name Joan Manuel Casadiego People call me “Johan.” I was born in Venezuela, and I’ve been in the US for over 22 years. Ever since I was a kid I’ve loved art in general. I usually look for new ways to communicate with the viewers, through different styles or elements. I try not to limit myself to only one medium to express my thoughts. I’ve used Photography, Sculpture, Drawing, Graphic Design, and Painting as tools to create meaningful compositions.

My mind is always working and associating shapes on everything I see. This also helps me get more sensitive to the richness of lights and shadows around me. I’m constantly noticing elements that give me ideas to create new compositions. I have been blessed to have received awards in Paintings, Graphic Design, and Photography, and I thank God for all my skills and accomplishments.

  • Sergio Arce

    Sergio Arce

Sergio Arce, better known as Registered Artist, is an urban pop artist based in Miami. Born in Managua, Nicaragua, his father brought him to the United States to escape his family being persecuted by the communist Sandinista regime when Sergio was an infant of three months. Growing up in Miami surrounded by an artistic family, his older cousins sparked his interest in art by exposing him to the fine arts and craft work at an early age. Sergio never attended art school. His passion for constantly improving and learning new techniques fuels his artistic journey. His art is influenced by mid-century pop art such as Roy Lichtenstein and comic book art, and manifests as murals, wheat pastes, stencils, decals, and stickers. His murals can be seen all over Miami and Florida, plus around the country and globe in places such as Mexico, Kansas City, New Orleans, and NYC.

A lifetime lover of science, Sergio's pseudonym Registered Artist stems from his decade-long career as a registered nurse. He is very passionate about giving back to the community through projects like Free Art Friday, a global project whose Miami chapter Sergio started, where the public can acquire new artwork for their collection through an urban scavenger hunt with participating artists who gain exposure and a spot on the walls of somebody’s home. His latest project, AWallMurallProjects.org, focuses on bringing murals and art workshops to blighted communities and schools, fostering early exposure to art and the power of creation to the youth. As a single father of 2 beautiful girls, his strong work ethic reminds them to dream big, to never settle and to always follow what their hearts truly desire.
